Spare parts & one-offs

Spare parts recreated – even just one.

Discontinued, overpriced or only sold in a set with parts that still work? I can recreate almost any part – with no minimum order. From the original, from broken pieces or from photos and measurements.

  • Even just oneno minimum order
  • No drawingfrom the original, broken pieces or photos with measurements
  • Free quoteno obligation
  • CAD fileon request, for repeat orders
When it pays off

When the original is not an option.

Usually the device, machine or vehicle still works – just one part is broken or missing.

Discontinued

The manufacturer has dropped the part, the model line has ended or the company no longer exists. Instead of replacing the whole thing, you replace just that one part – and I make it.

Too expensive for what it is

A small plastic part priced like half a new appliance? The free quote tells you up front what a replacement would cost – then you decide.

Only sold as a set

One clip is broken, but the only thing on sale is the whole assembly – including parts that are perfectly fine. I make just the part you need.

Fix the weak spot

If the original broke in one place, the new part can be made stronger there, printed in a fibre-reinforced material or reinforced with glass-fibre mat.

No minimum order

A one-off is a perfectly normal order.

Injection-moulded parts need an expensive mould – which is why they are often only made in large numbers, or eventually not at all. 3D printing needs no mould: a single part costs what goes into it – measuring, design, material, print time and finishing.

If you need more later, the part can be made again from the same CAD model – as a one-off or a small batch. On request you get the file (STEP or STL) as well.

Helpful for a quick quote

  • The original part – even in pieces – or photos from all sides, ideally with a ruler in the picture
  • The key dimensions, especially at holes and mating surfaces
  • Make and model of the device the part belongs to
  • Where it sits and what it has to withstand: load, heat, sunlight, oil
  • Quantity – one is fine
Process

How your spare part is made.

  1. Photos or the original

Send me photos from several sides and a few measurements – or the original part itself, even in pieces.

  2. Measure or scan

Simple parts I measure by hand. Complex shapes I scan with photogrammetry and scale using measured reference dimensions.

  3. Rebuild in CAD

A clean CAD model is built: broken or missing areas completed, fits and wall thicknesses designed for printing.

  4. Test part

If needed, I first print a test piece to check the fit. If it doesn’t fit yet, I adjust the model.

  5. Finished part

Printed in the right material, reinforced or painted on request – collected in Simmozheim near Stuttgart or shipped.

Examples

Scanned and recreated – two examples.

Questions

Spare parts: common questions.

Is there a minimum order?

No. A single part is a perfectly normal order, and small batches are fine too.

The part is broken into several pieces – can you still do it?

Yes. I scan what is left of the part and build a clean, complete CAD model from it – with real dimensions instead of warped fragments, and any missing areas filled in. That’s how the engine-bay fan shroud was made.

I no longer have the part – only the device.

Then the mating part it sat on, photos of an intact part or the make and model of the device can help. Tell me what you have – I’ll let you know whether it’s enough.

What does a replacement part cost?

It depends on how much measuring or scanning and design work it needs, plus material, size and finishing. You get a free quote up front and decide then – no obligation.

Do I get the file?

On request, yes – as STEP or STL. That way the part can be made again later.

Got a project in mind?

Need a part you can’t simply buy?

Send me photos, a sketch or a file. You’ll get an honest assessment and a free quote – no obligation.
